OUR MISSION and MAIN PROGRAMS
The mission of the Jefferson County Humane Society is to alleviate the suffering of animals. A small band of volunteers and donors performs this mission through various programs. The foremost effort is the spay/neuter program through which the society subsidizes the cost of spaying and neutering of dogs and cats for low income families. Also, our members have numerous rescued dogs and cats in their care and are looking for good homes for them. Both of these activities help to reduce the number of animals which would potentially be loose and at risk on the street.

OTHER PROGRAMS and FUND RAISING
Programs under development include educating the public about the proper care of pets, seeking the cooperation of law enforcement officials to prevent animal abuse, and raising funds for sustained operations. State law prohibits cruelty to animals and we seek to toughen the response of law enforcement agencies to animal abuse. As membership building and fund raising are necessary activities for non-profit organizations, the Humane Society accepts annual memberships at $20 per individual, $30 per family, or $40 for a business, and gladly receives donations and memorials of any amount.

MEETINGS and COMMUNICATIONS
The Society meets at Leon's Catfish the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm. When the first Monday is a holiday, the meeting is on the second Monday.
